Surrealism

The following papers give philosophical insight into my use of artistic mediums. There is art and the artist. The artist is a being that develops through their own experience in life. I was a young soul and my art reflected this. I was never able to fully realize my skill, full potential as an artist, or to expand on my portfolio as my life was cut short. However, I was developing a style, preferences, and techniques that were beginning to express deeper aspects of myself and my experience of reality.

While I was not a surrealist in the classic sense, the more I delved into, particularly collage, the more and the more abstract they became, and the more abstract I became.

Kaya/Anastasia started off as an artist, examined the world through the eyes of an artist, and often became the art.

As she stepped into the study of art and surrealism, and took more and more drugs, the line between reality and illusion become more and more cloudy. If you read some of her school papers you will see she could connectively expose some of these cracks through her profound depth of understanding she had about the philosophy of art.

In one of her essays, she quotes – Goiris, ‘who introduced the idea of “Nachtragli” which means differed action in German. This phrase alludes however to a deeper meaning: a wound that is created which is only realized after it has been struck again later, as a scar. The trauma is not the initial wound itself but the reinforcement of that wound by a later occurrence.’

With unresolved childhood trauma as a container for the rest of her life, as time went on, and one tragedy after another occurred, the scars became so thick. And with many of her own actions and/or inactions she slipped through those very cracks in reality she had earlier identified. Those scars wounded her beyond recognition.

On this site you can find words written or spoken by Kaya. You will also read my narration and interpretation of events. There may however be several alternate realities playing out as well.

  • Kaya may be a saint and is here to shed the light on the inconsistencies in humanity.
  • Kaya has touched many people’s lives so that they may heal.
  • There may be other forces at play which we don’t understand.

In all of this my hope and dream for her is to find salvation in her soul, and in so doing may the rest of us breathe a little deeper, have a little more respect, and find more grace.

This collection of papers, written for her degree, give insight into Kaya’s thoughts and revelations about life, herself, and art.
